To keep you up to date, or just make you feel better…
Our round up of individuals and businesses who we think win having one of those days, or weeks.
National coach provider Megabus have been banned from using the ‘Seats from £1’ advertisement. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) found that there was as little as 1 seat available on the coaches which cost £1, accounting for only 4% of overall seats on the routes advertised.
The campaign was misleading and created confusion among the existing stress of booking travel. Luckily, Megabus has recently hinted that they might have completely different campaign messages on the horizon, after a spokeswoman said their future marketing was not to be focused on prices.
The Ex-owner of BHS has been banned from running companies for 15 years. His ban will prevent him from serving as a company director after the collapse of BHS in April 2016 which led to the loss of 11,000 jobs.
The Insolvency Service, a government organisation which deals with debt and bankruptcy has also banned 3 other former director of the company.
It’s been quite a week for Facebook.
They are currently under scrutiny for failure to prevent cases of propaganda run using the services offered on their channel.
There are often fears regarding social networks and their security, and the recent Cambridge Analytica exposure has brought many of those fears to life.
Familiar names and brands such as Will Ferrell, Tesla and SpaceX have chosen to leave the social media platform following the revelation. Ferrell wrote on his page:
‘I can no longer, in good conscience, use the services of a company that allowed the spread of propaganda and directly aimed it at those most vulnerable.’
Many other individuals are choosing to leave Facebook, with fears of privacy being sparked.
On top of this, Mozilla has announced its new Firefox extension which will make it harder for Facebook as well as other social networks to track user activity via third-party cookies.
So, hopefully now your week seems a little better.
